Creating Events

Events are the central organizing concept in Bartendie. This guide will walk you through the process of creating and managing events for your home bar.

In Bartendie, an Event represents a scheduled gathering for which you’ll create a custom drink menu. Events have:

  • A name and description
  • A date and time
  • An expected guest count
  • A theme
  • A status (planned, in-progress, completed, cancelled)

From the main dashboard, tap the “Events” icon in the bottom navigation bar or select “Events” from the main menu.

Tap the ”+” button in the bottom right corner of the Events screen to start creating a new event.

Fill in the following details:

  • Event Name: Give your event a descriptive name
  • Date and Time: Set when the event will take place
  • Description (optional): Add any additional information about the event
  • Expected Guest Count: Enter the approximate number of guests

Tap “Select Theme” to choose from existing themes or create a new one:

  • Use Existing Theme: Select from the list of pre-defined or custom themes
  • Create New Theme: Tap “Create New” to define a theme with:
    • Theme name
    • Color scheme
    • Style description
    • Suggested ingredients or flavor profiles

Tap “Save” to create the event. You’ll be taken to the Event Detail screen where you can further customize and manage your event.

The Events screen displays a list of all your events with:

  • Event name
  • Date and time
  • Theme
  • Status indicator (colored dot)
  1. From the Events list, tap on the event you want to edit
  2. On the Event Details screen, tap the “Edit” button
  3. Modify any details as needed
  4. Tap “Save” to update the event
  1. From the Event Details screen, tap the “Status” field
  2. Select the new status from the dropdown menu:
    • Planned: Initial planning stage
    • In Progress: Event is currently happening
    • Completed: Event has ended
    • Cancelled: Event was cancelled
  1. From the Event Details screen, tap the menu icon (three dots) in the top-right corner
  2. Select “Delete Event”
  3. Confirm deletion when prompted

After creating an event, you’ll typically want to:

  1. Manage the guest list and track RSVPs
  2. Create a menu for the event
  3. Generate a shopping list based on menu and inventory
  • Create events well in advance to allow time for planning and purchasing
  • Be realistic about guest count to avoid over or under-purchasing
  • Choose a theme that matches your bar’s capabilities and available ingredients
  • Consider dietary restrictions and preferences when planning your menu
  • Use the attendance estimates to scale recipes appropriately
